Virginia Elks Association – February 2007

Robert R. Hinkle, Ph.D. VEA Scholarship Chairperson

The Virginia Elks Association (VEA) is involved in three (3) scholarship programs for high school seniors.   One program, the Virginia Elks Association State Scholarship Contest, is a state program.  Two programs are national efforts directly supported by the Elks National Foundation (ENF).  The two national programs are the Most Valuable Student Contest (MVS) and the Legacy Contest.

I. Elks National Foundation Most Valuable Student Finalist Awards - 500 national awards (250 male & 250 female)

A. Eight (8) MVS Awards are allocated by the ENF to Virginia annually.  The top four (4) male and female applicants in Virginia receive these awards and their brochures are submitted for judging at the national level.

B. This program is open to all high school seniors.

C. Applications are submitted to local lodges and judged at local, district, state and national levels.

D. Awards are for four (4) years at $1000 per year with higher valued awards for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places.

E. The Elks National Foundation (ENF) notifies winners by mid-May.
